A Typical Daycare Day:

Dogs will spend time running around the backyard, have access to toys and will be supervised at all times. 

Water bowls are located in all areas where they play.

If the weather is extreme your dog will spend some playtime in the dog lounge which is air-conditioned and heated. 

An afternoon nap around 2 pm usually takes place between the dog lounge and our living room.  We monitor dogs via camera while they are napping in the dog lounge, so we do not disturb their rest time.

It isn’t uncommon to break dogs off into smaller groups based on size, age or energy level.  Friendships are often formed this way and some dog parents choose the days their pups visit us based on the bond they share with other dogs.

Daycare Drop off & Pick Up Timeline

• Daycare Drop: any time after 6:30am, we require a text message when you are 10 minutes away

• Daycare Pick up: any time before 5:30pm, we require a text message when you are 10 minutes away

*If cancellations happen frequently with any client, we reserve the right to refuse service.

Cancellation Policy

We require 72 hours' notice for any daycare cancellations.  Anytime beyond this will require full payment before booking with us again.  Consistent cancellations will result in the dog moving from a dedicated weekly spot to the daily waitlist.

Being on Time

Animal Care requires much organization, setup, cleaning and scheduling.  For our business to run effectively we require our clients to respect the parameters of our business.  We are not interested in penalizing clients who are consistently late as these parameters are not intended for extra revenue.  If clients are consistently late for pick-up time, we will no longer provide care for their pets.

Pack Safety

Pack Safety is always our top priority, your dog may not be suitable for daycare/overnight stays if they exhibit:

• Food or toy possessive traits

• Have not received all their vaccinations

• Are older than 9 months and have not been spayed or neutered

• Are prone to excessive barking outside of playtime (this can stress other members of the pack)

• Show extreme separation anxiety when away from home, we always expect some level of anxiety in their first couple of weeks

• Excessive Barking or Nipping

• If dogs nip or excessively bark we implement a five-minute time out in a heated or air-conditioned room.  In the rare occasion that this does not work we will use a soft muzzle in two-minute intervals in the same environment. Soft muzzles allow dogs to drink, pant, eat, lick and lightly bark.

Urban Tailz Grooming Policies:

De-matting Policy

Excessive matt removal can be very painful and dangerous for your pet even when the process is completed by a professional.  We will not attempt to de-matt excessive matting.  We will assess each client individually and discuss options with you.  We do not offer a groom without a full wash, dry and brush.  If we are unable to brush out the mats we will have to cut them out as a last resort.  The length of the haircut will depend on the amount of space between the matt and the skin’s surface.  It is common for cuts to end up being quite short when excessive matting is present.

Stress Policy

We do not allow vicious or aggressive pets on our property.  For the benefit of the pet and the groomer we will not continue to work with any animal that exhibits dangerous behaviour and reserve the right to refuse services at any time if your pet does not meet our criteria for conduct.  If a pet is upset, we may skip a portion of the grooming or give them a bit of a break before we proceed.

Pre-Existing Conditions & Prior Experiences

Your pet’s safety and well-being are most important to us here at Urban Tailz.  Please advise us of any allergies, skin sensitivities or pre-existing medical conditions.  If your dog has had a negative grooming experience in the past, let us know as we want to avoid repeating anything that may have upset your pet. We may ask for additional time to allow your pet the space to be extra peaceful.

Cancellation Policy

We have a 48-hour cancellation policy in effect.  You will be required to pay 50% of the grooming service l if you do not cancel before this time. 

If you do not show up for your appointments, you will be required to pay for your grooming service in full two days prior.  Prepayment is non-refundable.
